PROCEEDINGS OF THE
39TH HEAT TRANSFER AND FLUID MECHANICS INSTITUTE

Edited by Frederick H. Reardon
California State University, Sacramento

This volume contains nine papers presented at the 39th Heat Transfer and Fluid Mechanics Institute, held at California State University, Sacramento, June 1-2, 2006.

The Institute, which meets biennially, was organized in 1948 as a forum for the presentation and discussion of scientific and technical work on problems related to heat transfer and/or fluid mechanics.

Topics in this volume include: application of satellite imagery for monitoring dryness and wetness, thermal radiation through perforated shields, mesoscale, porous-media heat recirculating combustor, numerical simulations of turbulent drag reduction by spanwise wall oscillation, the speed of isothermal-front propagation in isotropic, weakly-turbulent flows, preliminary results from heat transfer analysis of an ice coring drill, theoretical and experimental investigations of nanofluids for their heat transfer and fluid mechanics behaviors, numerical solution of natural convection flow around a horizontal, isothermal circular cylinder, evaluation of CFC, HFC and transcritical CO2 vapor-compression systems employing two-phase expanders. 140 pp. Paperbound. ISSN-0097-059X.

Price: $35.00 (includes postage and handling).  Make checks payable to "CSUS Foundation."
